In Montpelier, VT, we have several small independent bookstores, and one of them, Bear Pond Books, has set up an online presence and will now do mail-order in an effort to combat the big online booksellers. Fortunately, there aren't a lot of big box stores nearby to compete with but they do have to deal with online stores. So far, it seems to be working. But then, in Vermont, we tend to be pretty conscious of spending our money locally.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
